Colourpop $8 Faux Freckle Pen. Worth it?

I tried the NEW Colourpop faux freckle pen so you don't have to! Although you may want to, because it's actually very good! Faux freckles are having a moment right now! I'd say the most well known faux freckle product is from the brand, Freck, although the $22 pricetag doesn't have me too excited to buy it! Pseudo Labs is another popular brand toting a faux freckle fix, though their product is a liquid that comes with a bristled brush that you flick to give a splattered freckle look. Seems complicated to me and additionally, it's $38! No thanks! But that's enough about those other brands, let's talk about why I'm loving the Colourpop faux freckle pen!
Let's talk logistics, first. This freckle pen comes in two shades, "soft brown", which is intended for light to medium skin tones and "dark brown" which is intended for deep to rich skin tones. The pen comes with 0.03 oz fl oz or 1 ml of product for $8. For comparison, the Colourpop BFF liquid liner has 0.019 fl oz or 0.55 ml of product also for $8. I chose to compare the two because they both have a felt tip and honestly just look very similar. However, once you open the Colourpop freckle pen, you can see that they're quite different. The freckle pen reminds me of those skinny markers that used to come in craft kits in the early 2000s. Does anyone remember those? I felt very nostalgic using this pen but also felt like I maybe wanted to bite the tip off? My childhood was very good. I don't eat markers anymore.

As far as application goes, the fine tip allows you to create a variety of sizes of very natural looking freckles. The harder you press the tip to your skin, the bigger the freckle, but as I said, they look very natural and it would have been difficult to make them "too big" because the tip is quite fine. As far as color payoff goes, the color "soft brown" was the perfect diffused, warm toned brown. I know with some faux freckle products, they advise you to go over the freckles with your finger to make them look more natural. I did not have to do that with the Colourpop pen. I would not have wanted them to look any darker or lighter. They were seriously perfect and looked so real. I was squealing with excitement using these. Check out my video review to view my excitement/application IRL!
I was overall incredibly happy with the way this product performed over my makeup. I also tested it on my bare skin and felt it worked pretty much the same. I think that this product is absolutely worth $8, though I will be sure to update this article to let you know how long it lasted before drying out or running out of product. Have you ever tried a faux freckle product? Let me know! I love them so much. I think they make you look like a sweet sweet angel!
